The dynamism of four French acoustic guitarists invites you to a journey through various styles of music: country, jazz, ragtime, Brazilian, and even classical. The four artists are composers and sign the arrangements of the group. They show a great complicity, though they preserve their own personalities. Bruno Mursic combines a perfect knowledge of the Finger-picking to a solid traditional training, Eric Gombart appreciates sharp choruses la Jerry Reed , Patrice Jania inherits from his influences an architectural concept of the guitar, and Antoine Tatich likes to mix the universes he is fond of, either jazzy or Brazilian, which brings a somewhat unexpected flavor to the Quartet. What is common to the Superpickers is the Finger-picking of course, this technique which makes it possible to play simultaneously the melody and the accompaniment on a single instrument. The picking is thus in the center of their program, but you will also hear constructed parts, borrowed from classical music or from French songs, and jazz themes which leave room for exchange, improvisation... and humour. To be discovered on their CD "Superpickers", available... at the end of their concerts! |

This composer, who was born in Valdivia, Chile, taught himself to play the
guitar at an early age. His guitar school initiated many encounters with the
greatest names in Latin American guitarists. At the age of 19 he won the 1st
Patagonian
Folklore Festival in the city of Punta Arenas, which hurtled him into the
national limelight. His interest in Latin - American popular music brought him to carry out detailed research by listening to and reviving numbers of composers who had fallen into oblivion. Rolando Beluzan is a living encyclopaedia of Chilean rhythms and musical structures. His high quality compositions and arrangements have made him one of the best ambassadors of his country. |

Two guitars and a double bass comprise this unusual, adventurous ensemble known
as the Roland Conq Trio. Two harmonious guitars play out melodies into the open air which echo on Breton soil and are swept by winds from Ireland or the far south of Europe.Their crystal notes sparkle against the plush, velvety sonority of the double bass which widens the sound range and never ceases to amaze. The music of this trio has an improvisation feel to it, and has the novelty of being tried and tested out in total respect. Each member adds his bit, and mutual acknowledgement is left to do the rest. Questions of style or musical genres are brushed aside when faced with this "warm, energetic, restful music". Roland Conq : guitar, Erwan Berenguer : guitar, Vincent Gurin : double bass. |

A fondness for bubbly, festive music of the Mariachis, coupled with elegant,
flashy outfits is deeply entrenched in the Mexican tradition. The "rasgueos" (rhythm with the right hand),of guitars and syncompated, deep notes of the
"Guitarron" (bass guitar typical of Mexico) provide a sharp contrast to the the
vibrant sounds of violins and the velvety chords of the "Vihuela", and have
long enchanted not only Mexicans but also refined romantics worldwide. The Mariachis Semblanza ensemble has been based in Barcelona for ten years. They perform throughout Europe, either in their full line up, accompanied by a troupe of dancers, or as a group playing stringed instruments - guitar, jarana, harp, guitarron, violin and vihuela. It's as the latter that the Mariachis Semblanza will perform well known numbers of their Mexican repertoire in Vendme, a concert which promises to bring this 9th festival of guitar to a brilliant end. |
