Born on the 19th of October 1955, the French performer, composer, arranger and improviser Roland Dyens began to study the guitar when he was 9 years old. Later he studied with the Spanish master Alberto Ponce in a class where he obtained, in 1976, the "Licence de concert" from L'Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris" (France). Among the awards that he received in the early stages of his career are the Villa-Lobos special prize of the international competition of Alessandria (Italy), and the Grand Prix of the Academie Charles-Cros (for his recording "Hommage � Villa- Lobos"). A laureate of the Menuhin Foundation, in 1988 he was classed among the 100 best contemporary guitarists of all styles by the French magazine "Guitarist". Today, his compostions and arrangements are performed around the world to unanimous praise and enthusiam. Truly, his work sheds new light on the possibilities of the guitar. Because of his unique talent and the originality of his music, he must be considered one of the most innovative and complete musicians of our time. Clem MOUNKALA is from Brazzaville Congo He is a guitar player, a composer, he can play all sorts of instruments including traditional ones (such as Sanza, Kora). He has composed and arranged several pieces for one or two guitars, electric guitar and voice, guitar and traditional instruments, guitar and ensemble. For the festival he will play an osmosis music that will combine classical harmonies, such as jazz and tribal music. These kinds of music can be found in various parts of Congo and throughout Africa. These different tempos often originate in iniciatory or healing rites. Clem MOUNKALA is one of the rare African guitarist to have performed solo that type of music. For the festival, Lois PERCY on the electric guitar and Karim TOURE, on the percussion will play with him. |

He was born in Sardinia. He started studying the acoustic guitar when he
was 11. He was thought by his uncle, a reknowned Sardinian guitar player
who offered him his first guitar. From the beginning he proved a
talented pupil and was therefore invited to perform at a very early age
in the guitar trio "Emilio Pujol" with whom he gave concerts
until 1992.
Directed by Jorge CARDOSO and Javier HINOJOSA, he perfected his knowledge on the interpretation of Renaissance and Baroccan music by working directly on manuscripts, treaties and original instruments. He dedicated himself to teaching in Sardinia for 10 years. At the same time as he tought, he became a talented soloist in the festivals of many countries (Italy, France, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Argentina, Turkey and Marocco) and has since been acknowledged as a great artist.

Since he was a child Ismael LEDESMA has been travelling the world with him harp. He performed solo as well as in a group. In 1982 his quest for new musical horizons took him to Paris where he gave some concerts before touring Lebanon and Israel. In 1985 he gave his first concert at the Olympia hall in Paris. Since 1985 he has recorded several albums and performed in many countries (Turkey, Germany, Belgium, Egypt, the USA and of course Paraguay). He even appeared in Albertville for the Olympic Games and in the inauguration of St. Etienne Stadium for the 1998 football world cup. Several times he played with H.F. Thiefaine in concerts. His harp is said to be "an aeolian and aerial cage where you can hear the pulsing of the streams and the cracking of the storm" and that "the way he performs is as unique as the pleasure he gives to his audience". During the festival, Kike Lucena and Virgilio Rojas both acknowledrged as great popular guitarists from Paraguay will perform with him. |

Considered one of the most interesting guitarist of his generation, Claudio Marcotulli has a profile of highly artistic relevance that captures both audiences and critics worldwide. He obtained his Diploma with Highest Honours from the L. Cherubini Conservatory in Florence under the guidance of Alfonso Borghese; further studies included the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris with Alberto Ponce, where in 1983 he was given the "Licence Superieure d�Execution Musicale" and the following year the "Diplome Superieure de Concertiste" with special mention from the President of the jury, Alexandre Lagoya. Claudio Marcotulli travels regularly around the world performing repertoire for solo guitar, chamber music and the guitar Concertos. His appearances with orchestras as a soloist include many Orchestra with conductors such as Ennio Morricone or Ignacio Yepes. He has also accompanied Luciano Pavarotti. In 1995 he performed in the Chamber Orchestra of Europe production of Rossini�s Barber of Seville and in 1999 in the Mahler Chamber Orchestra production of Verdi�s Falstaff. |

Patrice Jania is one of most world famous guitar player who can both combine talent on the stage and teaching skills. He performed in many concerts and festivals in a repertoire that combines original pieces and versions he himself adapted. If some compositions are for initiated person only, some popular titles such as songs and instrumental humourous pieces are for all publics. Today music school have been teaching is contemporary styled pieces of music, wich used to be excluded (blues, picking). Some of his compositions are played in music competitions. Patrice Jania is an acoustic guitarist. |
