Le programme 2018 : Romane & Eric Bouvelle Quintet

This quintet is the meeting of two worlds: that of jazz with the heir of Django Reinhardt, and that of the « musette » with the heir of Jo Privat. It invites to a Swing and Jazz trip in a carefully selected repertoire, made up of standards and compositions of the two melodists marvellously accompanied by Mathieu Chatelain, Laurent Zeller and Laurent Delaveau (Les Pommes de ma douche).

If Romane is the undisputed reference of the gypsy jazz guitar, as well as the founder of schools for this genre, he proves here with Eric Bouvelle that talent can be polymorphic.

His meeting with Eric Bouvelle is finally that of two popular instruments that have appealed to people for decades. The gypsy guitar is the expression of an ancestral and authentic community that matches that of the accordion whose roots are those of the post-revolutionary French or Renoir's guinguette.

Eric Bouvelle, World Champion at the age of 16, has been around since his first TV show at the age of 12 in Pascal Sevran's "la chance aux chansons" ! With Romane, they combine their two popular instruments through classy jazz with a typically French repertoire, that of the swing waltzes of yesterday’s Paris and old swing revisited with modernity.
